The University of Kentucky women’s basketball team released their 2010-11 basketball schedule and will face seven teams that were ranked in the ESPN/USA Today Top 25 during the 2009-10 season.
Here is some of UK head coach Matthew Mitchell comments:
“Clearly, there are higher expectations for our team than previous seasons but we are excited about that,” Mitchell said. “The SEC schedule is once again very difficult and I really try not to look at it because it makes me stay awake at night thinking about it. It’s a very difficult schedule against great teams from top to bottom as the SEC is the premier conference for women’s basketball in America.”
A few games to keep a eye on in the SEC slate include the Feb. 7 home matchup with Tennessee on ESPN2 and the Women's Basketball Coaches Association on Feb. 13 for the WBCA Pink Zone game vs. LSU, also televised on ESPN2.

I don't know how much I'll be able to spend on the game because lots of things went haywire at work over the last eight hours...but here goes my experience tonight in Canada.
Folks were great. I got tickets from Martin Newton at the hotel where the team and tons of UK fans have been staying. The staff at the hotel told me that it "is a sea of blue" in this town and everyone "has been great."
Tons of UK fans at the game of course, but it wasn't sold out. As I always do, I had a great time talking to fellow 'Cat fans. It is just a treat to see everyone "up here" and having a great time in preparation for going back to school and getting prepared for autumn. I miss the "accents" from back home too.
As to the game, it is my first time seeing the Dribble Drive in person with Cal at the helm. Tonight's opponent beat the heck out our guys in the lane. There some dirty plays and on two occasions I had to be pulled back down to the bleachers by my daughter. One guy almost killed Knight - and Lamb got so upset near the end of the game that he popped off to one of the Western guys and even “flopped” in front of the UK bench.
Had Enes K., Vargas and Jones played - this game would have been 50+ at the end. Despite Miller’s growth in size and leadership this summer – UK has got to have more size. Those kids wouldn’t have applied any cheap shots had the aforementioned trio played. As it was, Miller and Harrelson did just fine.
I’m no coach, nor talent evaluator – yet Lamb and Knight together will be a special pair this year. Lamb is so smooth that he is one of those “quiet” scorers. Knight is outstanding. Outstanding. We’re going to love that guy.
Miller and Liggins will be solid all year as well. I was not overly impressed with Poole tonight or last night. He will be a four year player for certain. Hood is a fan favorite and so is Josh H. They will get clock this year and fill in nicely. Yet I still maintain that UK needs more size and I hope that Jones gets better in the month that they are saying it will take. Vargas needs to come up the learning curve quickly – and let’s hope that the NCAA doesn’t “mess” around with Enes.
The dribble drive will be played at a breakneck pace this year I believe. I mean breakneck speed. Most teams won’t grab, hold and stick knees out all game long like these guys did.
We won’t have to deal with “hockey” officials either. No matter how badly we sometimes feel officiating is during the SEC campaign, it is NOTHING like what I watched tonight. I’ve seen rec league games officiated better than tonight. It never allowed a flow to happen for our ‘Cats.
Sorry this was so “light,” but I just wanted to get some quick thoughts out before I try and solve a problem or two before hitting the hay.

It was during the SEC campaign of a disappointing swan-song-season of coach Tubby Smith’s decade long career as the head coach of the University of Kentucky that Wildcats Thunder became the first, and THE source for all vintage UK basketball games on-line.
By reliving some of the great games from some of the best teams and great players that have suited up for the winningest program in the history of revenue generating athletics that winter - it was the hope that a visit to Wildcats Thunder for the “Game of the Week,” would help to ease some of the troubles that UK's faithful had been witnessing on the court and on the recruiting trail for those past few seasons.
Our own BWO – who had become somewhat of a fixture and “got-to-guy” elsewhere – was the driving force to make those ideas real for all of you.
Others have stepped to the plate to bring recent games to you after they’re played - both here and elsewhere - yet the genesis of Kentucky Basketball online Klassics started right here at Wildcats Thunder.
Of course the “game chat room” has been a big hit and at times filled with regulars and some first time visitors who have found what WT offers and have elected to become regulars themselves.
It is with the same attitude of adding to the online experience while following and discussing “our” ‘Cats that Wildcats Thunder is proud to present The Funchester toolbar for your computer!
As one of my online buddies said, “If you are tired of missing UK games because you live out of the Kentucky area and if you are tired of searching multiple sites and news sources for latest news on the UK Wildcats......then download the Funchester toolbar!”
The Funchester toolbar is 100% spyware free.
The Funchester toolbar will feature streaming of current and classic UK games, a forum to chat with other UK fans, news and much more.
The Funchester toolbar will even have a drop down menu with links to all the best UK sites on the net, along with other features that will be added in time.
Download the Funchester toolbar and root for the Cats with all the biggest Wildcat fans – courtesy of Wildcats Thunder!
Click here to get your FUNCHESTER TOOLBAR to watch the Cats in action.
NOTE: The full STREAMING won't begin until the Canada Games Aug. 15-17, 2010
